DELAWARE COUNTY RIGHT TO LIFE 73 East Front St., Hancock, NY 13783 607-637-2330, email@example.com Sept. 12, 1997 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE INTERNATIONAL FIGHTER OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD IN SIDNEY FOR OPENING OF NEW CLINIC ON SEPT. 13 Jim Sedlak, Pres. of STOPP Planned Parenthood International, will attend a protest of a new clinic operated by Planned Parenthood Association of Delaware and Otsego Counties (PPADOC) in Sidney, NY. The clinic's official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm on Sat., Sept. 13 at 37 Pleasant St. The protest will begin at 1:45 pm and will last about an hour. Mr. Sedlak, author of the book PARENT POWER, has appeared on media talkshows and has created a nine part video series entitled PLANNED PARENTHOOD: THE PROBLEM, NOT THE SOLUTION, produced by American Life League. In 1993 Planned Parenthood listed Mr. Sedlak as one of the "most active fighters" against its sex education programs and featured him in its 1995 video, UNHOLY ALLIANCE. Originating in LaGrangeville, NY in the 1980's, STOPP has grown into an international organization leading the fight against Planned Parenthood worldwide. In 1995, Mr. Sedlak was invited to Rome to the Vatican's EVANGELIUM VITAE congress where he inspired many to support efforts to stop Planned Parenthood. A few years ago Mr. Sedlak gave presentations in Hancock, Walton, and Oneonta, NY which sparked the continuous opposition to Planned Parenthood in the counties of Delaware and Otsego. Last week, upon request of area pro-lifers, he shipped one thousand flyers for distribution in Sidney area churches last Sunday. The new PPADOC clinic will open in what was once a Sisters of Mercy convent owned by the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Sidney until about 1980 when it was sold to become, until recently, a daycare center. The site was the target of a quickly organized Aug. 18, 1997 protest in response to a PPADOC press release which stated that date for the opening. Later, a Sidney business person received an official invitation to the Sept. 13 ribbon-cutting from PPADOC and alerted area pro- life groups who then contacted Mr. Sedlak of STOPP International.
